In 1971 textiles entrepreneur Arnaldo Caprai purchased 12.5 acres in Montefalco, moving away from textiles and instead to wine. In 1988 Arnaldo’s son, Marco took over the ownership of the winery – choosing to focus on the indigenous grape: Sagrantino. As well as championing this grape variety, they have become known for their award-winning wines and their work promoting the region of Umbria as well as their environmental and social sustainability.
