About Us

Our Background

MBM was founded in 1997, created from a desire to improve the wine offering in the Middle East region – an opportunity that became apparent while one of our founders was assisting the Oman Government during the 1970s and 80s. Back then, the emphasis in the Middle East was on beer and spirits sales, with wine as an afterthought. Something our founders all agreed, needed to change.

MBM began operating in the Middle East with unwavering principles of sourcing brilliant wines at fair price/quality ratios and providing a personal and bespoke service along the way. Currently, we primarily operate in the Arabian Gulf, as well as Central Asia and East Africa.

Our team today has over a century of collective experience in the wine industry, with a large proportion of that in the Travel Retail market and the Middle East region. Our buyer and Master of Wine, Nicola Arcedeckne-Butler’s fluency in French and Italian, as well as her wealth of experience in sourcing wine has resulted in a portfolio of over a hundred producers from all over the world. MBM is a small company which can meet the needs of importers and distributors and is able to make decisions in a very speedy fashion. As a result, we offer a personal, tailored approach to our partners and customers, supported by regular market visits, training, and sales support meetings. MBM has developed long-term relationships with our partners based on the shared goals of quality and service.
